Vladimir Onufrievich Mokhnach, a brilliant physician and highly educated individual fluent in several foreign languages, including ancient ones, a candidate of chemical sciences and a doctor of biological sciences, holding the position of Director of the Far Eastern Branch of the Institute of Chemistry of the USSR Academy of Sciences, was arrested in 1937 in Vladivostok and sentenced for "counter-revolutionary activities" under Article 58: 15 years of imprisonment followed by 5 years of exile without the right to leave.

The 'Case of Lyceum Students' was a fabricated case initiated by the Unified State Political Administration (OGPU) under the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR in 1925 in Leningrad. It accused a group of graduates from the Alexandrovsky Lyceum of creating a counter-revolutionary monarchist organization. In the OGPU records, the case was referred to as 'Case No. 194 B' or the 'Counter-Revolutionary Monarchist Organization,' as well as the 'Students' Case' and the 'Union of the Faithful.'

Let's preserve the memory together!

Vor drei Jahren haben wir die Website gestartet. Schnell und nicht ganz perfekt. Aber sie hat funktioniert und arbeitet bis heute. Damals konnten wir uns nicht einmal vorstellen , dass das Projekt so stark wachsen würde. Es gibt immer mehr Material und Besucher. Wir haben die Ressource die ganze Zeit verbessert, so gut wir konnten. Neben den persönlichen Seiten der Repressionsopfer haben wir eine einheitliche Datenbank der Opfer von Repressionen erstellt (mit bereits über 300 Gedenkbüchern). Es entstand die Notwendigkeit für Artikel. Die Website wuchs, ihre Besucherzahlen stiegen, und zum ersten Mal wurden tausende Seiten von Dokumenten veröffentlicht, wie z. B. "Stalin'sche Erschießungslisten".

The wife of a «traitor to the Motherland»

At 17, she founded the Moscow Children's Theater (modern-day RAMT), at 28 - she became the world's first female opera director, staging Verdi's "Falstaff" at the Berlin Kroll Opera House. However, upon returning to the USSR in 1937, she was arrested as the wife of a "traitor to the Motherland." Her husband, Israel Veitzer, the People's Commissar of Internal Trade, was accused of counter-revolutionary activities. She awaited him for 5 years in the Gulag and exile. Upon returning to Moscow at the age of 61, she created another theater - the world's first children's musical theater, which now bears her name: the Moscow Children's Musical Theater named after Natalia Sats.
